Inspired by avant-garde fashion and her flower garden, artist Nicole Helen Brunner creates pieces that are reminiscent of elaborate and whimsical haute couture clothing. Nicole’s Lilium Vessel was thrown on the potter’s wheel then altered using handbuilding techniques to create an asymmetrical vessel featuring a bouquet of Calla Lillies. Nicole then smothered this vessel in a frost white porcelain slip that creates depth while also shrinks at a different rate than the cay body that the vessel was created in which causes the surface to crack and create a textural experience almost ancient in feeling.
